(Stowell) A Christ-follower's journey is simple in the sense that the complexity of life is reduced to the single question, "Where is Christ on this issue?" The follower has a certain and singular focus:Christ. Amid the tensions of a dozen voices telling us what to do and how to live, He is the one voice that captures the attention of our hearts. Followers are liberated from the tyranny of the push-and-shove of outside influences that vie for control. The issue is settled: I'm a follower;it's just that simple. Following Christ not only simplifies life, but also fills the follower with a riveting sense of wonder and awe. Christ is a most unusual and intriguing Person. He will take us to places and unveil perspectives that we have never known. His clarity of truth and arresting wisdom captures the attention and imagination of followers

(Stowell) The libraries and bookstores are jammed with books that deal with  "self-help"- many written by people who get rich, ironically, by helping you help yourself. The management section is packed with books on how to be a leader. I have seen only one of how to be a follower. I have yet to hear of a seminar on following. The trouble with follower-ship is that it os on a collision course with a culture in which the prominent goals are power, position, autonomy, and control. Interestingly, God crafted us to follow We are designed for a reflective following relationship to our Creator
